Drinking water or potable water has a sufficiently high quality. The water supplied to households, commerce and industry is all of drinking water standard, even though only a very small proportion is actually consumed or used in food preparation.
ULTRAAQUA UV systems for drinking water uses low-pressure amalgam lamp that expose water to UV dosages of 25,000 - 35,000 µW-s/cm² enough to deactivate only bacteria and viruses.
The UV system can successfully be coupled with a prefilter to remove larger organisms that would otherwise pass through the UV system unaffected. The prefilter also clarifies the water to improve light transmittance and thereby the UV dose.
